I AM COMPLETELY INSANE

you want to know what i’ve done for the past two hours?

i made a wishlist on amazon.

i’m pretty sure i’m mentally deranged or something because i just looked at my list and it is ALL OVER THE PLACE. i guess it really just suits me but seriously. it’s all over the place. there’s a link to the side of my blog so you can view my insanity (and buy me stuff) and it’s completely ridiculous. if there’s anything you think that i should get or have any recommendations of awesome things please let me knowwwwwww!

okay, i’m pretty sure i saw some lumber and power tools i want to put on there…

Three Hollidays I Love

1. CHRISTMAS

Christmas is the best holiday in the existence of holidays. it’s cold outside but it’s warm wherever you are . yes, that sounds so cliche, but it’s true. i love being around my family, giving gifts, christmas trees, smelling the pine and peppermint, baking, cooking and eating. i love all things christmas. i love how it is so steeped in traditions and every culture and every family has different kinds of christmas traditions. there’s something to say about he spirit of christmas, i always feel so happy to just be alive. it’s the most magical of holidays.

2. THANKSGIVING

eat. eat. eat. i love thanksgiving because it’s time where we all can just hang and eat and be thankful to have good friends and good food. it’s always a huge feast that will last for days and days and days. football is on the tv and don’t forget the parade. it’s just a day that makes me so happy to be with the ones i love.

3. ST. PATRICK’S DAY

i love beer. i love irish things. green is my favorite color. bagpipes are awesome. and let’s face it, when i can have a day to celebrate all of those things i’m going to do it. and it’s going to be amazing. i love to pinch the ones who aren’t in green and i like to high five the ones who are. it’s another one of those holidays where you just get to hang around and just be ridiculous and have some fun. and don’t we all just need to have a little fun?!?

tomorrow i’m buying my flight to come home for christmas.
now some of you may be wondering, maggie, isn’t that a little weird since you haven’t moved away yet?
i say to you, yes, that may be strange, but if i wait any longer i’ll be paying out of my nose to get a plane ticket. and christmas is my favorite. it’s not even an option to not be home for christmas. becasue if i was alone this christmas, i might hate christmas. and i can’t hate christmas. it would be band and wrong. just plain badong. so that’s what i’m doing.

Christmas Carol Train Tour

i’d like to start out this entry with a list of facts:

  1. chiristmas is the best holiday ever
  2. a christmas carol is the best story of all time
  3. trains are the coolest form of transportation
  4. 3D animation blows my mind

you put these thing together, you get Disney’s A Christmas Carol Train Tour

now, everyone knows that i love christmas. if you didn’t know that, then you’re an idiot. this has to be the coolest thing i’ve done in quite some time. somehow, they’ve brought a little christmas magic and disney magic and made some kind of hybrid pixie dust that maybe warped my fragile little mind. let me take you on the journey that was my day:

  • so first you go onto the platform and it’s snowing! (okay it’s not really snowing, there’s a cleverly disguised machine making bubbles that look convincingly like snow)
  • they give you a ticket. when you get to the door, they punch your ticket very authentically WITH A MICKEY HEAD HOLE PUNCH! (where can i get one?!?!? it’s probably the coolest office tool existing)
  • the first car has Charles Dickens artifacts from, of course, the Charles Dickens Museum in London which were COMPLETELY AWESOME! there in front of me were letters he wrote. with his pens. that were in his hands. connected to his body. it was the real deal. there were also early copies of the story and they were so beautiful i almost crapped my pants.
    • it also has costumes and very frightening portraits of some of the characters from the movie. the oddest is the one of Robin Wright Penn looking just like Julia Roberts and it freaked me out because they don’t look alike. at. all. way lamer than the artifacts that surrounded them.
  • then there are concept drawings, artwork and scale models of things used in the film.
  • they also show you the technology used in making the movie. they gave a sample of the set the actors actually used, their gear and then the process of animation. it’s really quite complex and very interesting how these actors literally have no idea what their environment looks like but must adapt. super cool, actually.
  • then when you think it couldn’t get any better, it does. you get to take your picture and morph it into one of the characters from the film. needless to say. i spent a lot of time playing around with it. sometimes it was scary, other times, it was freaking coolio. i can’t wait to share my pictures with the world. redonk.
  • then of course there was a christmas feast at the end from scrooge himself and it smelled so christmassy i almost died.

i had a blasty blast on that train. i’d recommend anyone going. to see if it’s coming to your city, just click CHRISTMAS TRAIN and you’ll go to the website.

i’m really excited for this film because it seems like a fairly literal translation of the book. the script seems pretty much word for word the story. and i like that tremendously. i don’t think that the dead-behind-the-eyes look that comes with this kind of technology will bother me in this and there’s always just something about the mouth that’s wrong but i don’t think i’ll care. i just really really really really really want to see it and for christmas to be here. NOW!

now i need to sleep before i keel over and never blog again.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
